Some useful information to read through before booking a shoot

Moodboards:

I’m happy to put together a mood-board on Pinterest, or we can work on one together before a shoot. This is a good way to collate ideas and style references.

Shot lists:

I love a shot list! Please do write one out before we shoot together if at all possible. This helps ensure nothing gets missed out on the day. Bear in mind all the different uses you have in mind for your shots … website banner, product page, Instagram, an upcoming Ad etc. This way I can supply all the correct crops, so it really does help if this has been planned in advance.

Props:

I have a good selection of backgrounds, surfaces and props to use at the studio .. I can send you a pdf which catalogues most options available. We can also paint bespoke backgrounds and surfaces for your shoot for a small charge, just ask for more info.

Usage:

The images I supply are for you to use to promote your business. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t hand over images to a third party, without checking with me first. I will also use images on my website, and social media to promote my business, unless you ask me not to. An image credit on social media is much appreciated!

Estimates:

I’m happy to give an estimate before starting a shoot, just ask. If the shoot runs into extra time, or further expenses are incurred then these are added onto the final bill.

Images:

I will supply both High and Low Res versions of your images, and Tiff files on request. Raw files are not supplied. I’ll deliver your images electronically using We Transfer, usually within a week of your shoot, and often within a couple of days. I can supply images on a USB stick if requested for a small extra fee. I don’t supply every image taken on a shoot. A selection is made from each set up for edit and retouching.

Edit & Retouch:

At the moment, my time spent working on an edit and basic retouch of selected images after the shoot session is included in the half day/day rate estimate I’ve given you.

Copyright:

It is standard practice that photographers retain copyright of all material shot, unless there is a contract that states otherwise. Full buy out of images can be negotiated for a further fee. You can read more info about copyright here on the AOP website:

https://www.the-aop.org/information/copyright-4-clients

Payment:

Please ensure payment is made in full within 30 days of the invoice date. I reserve the right to charge interest on late payments at the rate prescribed by the Late Payment of Commercial Debt (Interest) Act 1988 from the date the payment was due. If you are having difficulty paying, please get in touch to discuss the possibility of an instalment plan.

Storage of Material:

I will keep a copy of your shoot, including raw files for a period of 3 years. I recommend you keep copies of your images in a couple of places, such as cloud storage, and on an external hard drive for example.

Insurance:

I hold full public liability insurance, as well as insurance to cover accidental damage to my equipment whilst working on location, or in the studio. My insurance doesn’t cover damage to your products, however, please check that you’re covered.
